Open the COA and ignore the logo for a minute. Ignore the green checkmark too. Start with the report number, sample description, supplier lot, method, result, unit, and signature. If those fields do not connect the document to the material under review, the color scheme is irrelevant.

That is the practical problem behind a third-party tested Retatrutide peptide claim. “Tested” sounds complete. Laboratory reports are narrower. One method may address chromatographic purity, another may provide identity evidence, and another may estimate content. An endotoxin result answers a different question again. Buyers get into trouble when one passing result is allowed to speak for five tests that were never run.

## What does “third party” tell the buyer?

It tells the buyer that an organization other than the seller performed the stated work. That is useful independence information, not an analytical result.

The question answered is simply who performed the analysis. Check the laboratory’s legal name, address, report number, sample identifier, receipt and test dates, method reference, authorization, and any accreditation statement. If accreditation is cited, inspect its scope. ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is tied to defined activities; it is not a gold star that covers every method a laboratory might offer.

The analytical question is narrow: what relative chromatographic profile did this sample produce under this method? Inspect the sample and lot identifiers, method number, detector, chromatogram, integration table, system-suitability information where reported, calculation basis, and result.

An HPLC area percentage is not a fill-quantity measurement. It does not independently prove molecular identity. It also cannot describe components the procedure does not detect under its stated conditions. Response factors can differ, which is another reason not to read an area percentage as a direct mass balance.

If the report shows a large number but hides the chromatogram, integration detail, and method reference, the buyer has a headline, not much of a review record.

## What does LC-MS add?

Liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry can provide evidence that observed ions or a derived molecular mass are consistent with the expected identity of the named compound.

Here the question is identity: does the observed mass-spectrometric evidence agree with the expected target under the stated procedure? Read the expected and observed values, ion assignments where provided, spectrum, sample identifier, method reference, interpretation, and analyst authorization.

That evidence does not automatically state how much material is present. It does not replace a chromatographic-purity result, and it says nothing about endotoxin or microbial findings. “Identity confirmed” should stay in its lane.

## Is chromatographic purity the same as measured content?

No. This is the mix-up that makes otherwise careful purchasing files look foolish.

Chromatographic purity describes a relative profile produced by the chromatographic procedure. A quantitative-content procedure estimates the amount of a defined analyte in the submitted sample, using a stated calculation, calibration approach, reference, and unit.

For content, inspect the method, sample preparation, reference material, calibration information where reported, replicate data, calculation basis, measured value, unit, and relevant method-performance information. FDA and ICH guidance Q2(R2) and Q14 both center analytical work on the procedure’s intended purpose and demonstrated performance. A number is not self-validating just because it has two decimal places.

A content result for one submitted sample does not establish the content of a different lot, formulation, sales unit, or untested vial. It also does not turn a nominal label amount into a sitewide claim.

## What does an endotoxin report establish?

It reports the result of a bacterial endotoxins test for the named sample under the stated procedure and conditions. Look for the method, sample preparation or dilution information where provided, interference controls, result, unit, reporting limit, any acceptance limit applied, lot, and test date.

The question is whether the sample produced the reported endotoxin result within that method. FDA’s pyrogen and endotoxin guidance and USP General Chapter <85> describe controls that affect how such results are produced and interpreted.

An endotoxin result does not establish sterility. It does not show the absence of every microorganism, and it cannot stand in for a separate microbial panel. A bare “pass” with no unit or limit deserves a follow-up question.

## What does a microbial report cover?

Read the panel before reading the conclusion. Microbial work may address enumeration, specified organisms, or another defined examination. The name of the procedure and the organisms or categories evaluated tell the buyer what was actually checked.

Review the sample and lot, procedure, sample amount, dates, result, unit, detection or reporting limit, and conclusion. The supported finding belongs to that panel and sample.

It does not create a general cleanliness grade. It does not prove that an unlisted organism was evaluated, and it does not allow the reviewer to rename an enumeration result as a sterility result. Endotoxin testing and microbial testing are separate records because they answer separate questions.

## Can one COA cover every option on a product page?

Only if there is a documented connection. A parent product page can group different amounts, formulations, packs, and lots. The buyer should not extend one submitted sample across all of them by convenience.

The record question is: which exact item did the laboratory receive and test? Compare the supplier lot, laboratory sample number, sample description, nominal amount where stated, formulation, submitting organization, and report number with the live selection. If the lot is wrong, stop. The rest of the PDF can be perfectly legitimate and still be irrelevant to the item in the cart.

A report for one lot does not become evidence for the next lot because the product name stayed the same.

## What is the difference between lot traceability and measurement traceability?

Lot traceability follows the commercial item through selection, shipment, receipt, inventory, and the report associated with it. Metrological traceability belongs to a measurement result. No. A badge is a signpost. The report is the record.

Use the supplier’s public peptide COA archive to open the original file for the lot under consideration. Save the version reviewed. Record its report number, issuing laboratory, dates, sample identifier, lot, methods, results, and authorization. Keep historical reports clearly separated from records representing current material.

The approval note should be equally disciplined. Write what each result supports, then stop writing. Do not fill blank sections of the report with assumptions.

A useful COA review is not complicated, but it is literal. Match the lot. Read the method. Keep the unit. Limit the conclusion. That approach is less exciting than a quality badge and far more useful when somebody asks, six months later, why the purchase was approved.
