The pursuit of purity must begin in the mind/heart. It’s not enough to stay away from bad physical habits (although that’s also part of the equation here). We must pray for God to renew our minds so that we can practice purity in our thought lives.

Sometimes it seems like God is ignoring our prayers for direction, but really what’s happening is not that he’s ignoring us, but that he’s doing work behind-the-scenes. We don’t always see the ways he’s busy making the path ahead straight for us.
Sometimes our prayers aren’t answered the way we’d like because of God’s plans, God’s timing, or spiritual opposition. But the Bible mentions several reasons why we ourselves are often the most significant hindrance to having our prayers answered.
